Day 3, Mambele - Lobeke Park
Departure to the village of Mambele at the entrance of the Lobeke national park. Entrance formalities, meet guides and porters. Drive for about an hour and start safari on foot. Night on the viewing platform or in tents.
Days 4 and 5, Lobeke Park
Safari on foot, in dense equatorial forest, climb on the mirador (viewing platform) and watch out for gorillas, elephants, buffallos, bongos, leopards, chimpanzees and a wide variety of birds. Lobeke National Park was created in 2001 and covers a surface area of 217 854 h in the south-east of Cameroon. It is located in the Congo Basin and part of the Tri-national Protected area (STN) of the river Sangha including Dzanga Sangha special reserve in the Central African Republic and Nouabale Ndoki National Park in the Republic of Congo (Brazzaville).Night on the platform or in tents.
Day 6, Libongo in the Central African Rep. - Sangha Lodge
Departure to the frontier town of Libongo, exit formalities and continuation to Bella where we cross the Sangha river by boat. Immigration formalities at Lidjombo, the first village of the Central Africal Republic. Transfer to the Sangha Lodge or similar, dinner and overnight.
Day 7, Dzanga-Sangha National Park
Departure to the Dzanga Bai (elephant village). We drive for about 45 minutes and walk for 30 minutes to the Bai. In this forest clearing, other creatures you may observe include Sitatungas (marshbuck), bongos, buffalos, great forest hogs… etc. Back to the lodge in the afternoon, dinner and overnight.
Day 8, Dzanga-Sangha National Park
Departure to Bai Hokou, where we set out with our pygmy tracker guides in search of our own private encounter with the western lowland gorilla. Where we meet a family of habituated western lowland gorillas we are allowed to be in their immediate vicinity for about an hour. In the afternoon, we return to the Lodge for dinner and the night.
Day 9, Pygmy life
Morning spent with Ba’Aka pygmies as they show us their way of life and the secrets of the rain-forest. Activities include net hunting well as an introduction to the wide range of medicinal plants. Afternoon at leisure. In the evening watch the spectacular traditional baka dance. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge.
Day 10, Libongo - Yokadouma
Boatride on the Sangha river to Bella. Continuation by car to Yokadouma. Dinner and overnight at Elephant Hotel.
Day 11, Yokadouma - Yaounde
Long drive to Yaoundé. Dinner and night at Merina Hotel or similar.
Day 12, Yaounde - Return flight
Relaxed morning. Lunch. City tour, transfer to the airport for return flight.
